Embrace Fall for Your Riding Arena

Fall is a sweet spot for arena construction.
Cooler temps make installation more comfortable and help avoid weather delays before the rainy season.
You're likely going to DIY a significant portion of your arena. But that doesn't necessarily mean you have to build it all by hand from start to finish.
Many of our customers utilize contractors for things like clearing, ground work, and setting posts.

It's worth calling around to get a feel for contractor availability after summer’s busy season in your area.
Late Summer Is Prime Planning Season
Right now, you have time to measure, research, and design without rushing decisions.
Think of late summer as your “prep window.” You have enough daylight hours and warm evenings to plan your riding arena without feeling rushed.
This is your time to:
- Finalize your riding arena’s location and footprint
- Compare fencing types—continuous fence or horse panels
- Nail down your size choice
You’ll hit the ground running when fall arrives.
Choose Your Riding Arena Kit
Our outdoor arena fencing can be used to build any size arena.
You could create an entirely custom arena to fit your terrain and property. However, most horse owners or trainers choose a riding arena kit...or a roping arena kit if that is the main training focus.
Note: Our metal riding arenas come in pre-configured kits that simplify the process and give you built‑in discounts.
Arena Kit Sizes
- Most spacious: 140' × 240' (riding or roping configuration).
- Most efficient: 80' × 120' riding arena.
- Mid‑range options: Multiple sizes for riding and roping setups.
Arena Kit Styles
- Continuous fence panels for a streamlined look.
- Horse panels for a more traditional rail style.
All of the Seven Peaks Fence Kits and Panels use hand‑welded, heavy‑duty 14‑gauge steel built for easy installation and long-term durability.
Planning for Your Property’s Layout
Your riding arena will work best when it’s built for your land. Along with where where it fits, factor in your daily use.
- Wind: Prioritize wind protection to limit dust
- Heat: Orient for sun and shade to ensure longer usage on hot days
- Rainfall: Drainage should be a key focus in your planning
- All locations: Keep water, storage, and equipment access in mind
Step‑by‑Step Arena Build Prep

With your location and kit chosen, you can break the planning and prep into 3 main areas.
- Prepare the ground. Address grading and drainage now to prevent injury and limit dust and flooding
- Plan entry points. Map gates for riders, livestock, equipment, and any custom choices.
- Line up help if needed. DIY your kit, but consider a contractor for ground prep or post setting.

FAQ
How long does it take to install a riding arena kit?
Once posts are in, the arena fencing goes up quickly. Customers report that arenas go up in as little as a day for our smallest kits. Plan 3 or 4 days for our larger kits.
Can I start with a riding arena and upgrade to roping later?
Yes. Many riders add pens and alleys later to convert their space into a roping arena.
Do kits include gates and hardware?
Yes. Kits include panels, gates, posts, and standard hardware. Custom gate locations can be added.
What’s the difference between continuous fence and horse panels?
Continuous fence panels come in 20 ft panels that slide together and need to be installed on posts 1 ft off the ground. Horse panels clamp together. For longer spans, such as the perimeter of an arena, you'll need to add in posts, such as t-posts or traditional posts.
Do you offer pickup and delivery?
Yes. Pick up at our Godley, TX or Mesa, AZ locations or we offer quick shipping throughout the United States.
What size arena should I choose?
The best arena size is determined by your planned usage and your property.
